Longtime home decor writer Jo Werne dies of heart attack
14.07.10
Jo Werne, who wrote about home decor for much of her 38-year Miami Herald job, died earlier this week at the book-filled Coral Gables home she shared with her cat, Spooky.
She obviously suffered a heart attack less than two weeks before her upcoming 70th birthday, on July 26.
Although she worked as a borough reporter and a features writer, she was best known as a Herald home furnishings author before retiring in 2001.
She continued to freelance, generally for The Herald's Home & Design section, until last year.
A plane at industry shows, Werne brought back news of upcoming furniture trends, keeping Herald readers onwards of the style curve.
Russell And Kimora Lee Simmons Host 'Phat-est' Yard Sale Ever

Started yesterday and ends tomorrow at 8PM, compiles an awe-inspiring list of items one would never find at a neighbor’s yard sale. Standard-priced finds are costing shoppers a two of thousand dollars — but hey, this is the sale of an ex-mogul couple we’re talking about.
In the home decor worry, $12,000 can get you their pool table or a Persian rug. If that’s too steep for your already big budget, you can hold the two couches that were formally owned by the late Gianni Versace for $7,500 each.
One “cheese-paring” shopper, who bought a pair of $20 doggie beds and a skeleton bronze, said of the event, “I have never seen anything like this.”
