Jayamini works within the time-hallowed decorative
tradition of Sri Lankan art but has devoted herself to the exploration
of new possibilities and motifs. A long period of study in China
after her initial training here has contributed considerably to
her range of both motifs and technical resources. Her work presents
a wide range, from the graceful lines of feminine movement in dance-like
postures through statements of sensuous femininity and suggestive
sketches from aspects of nature to occasions of reflective utterance.
